MILTON FRIEDMAN. ANS: "Milton Friedman", 1p, 8½x11. Friedman writes a response on the bottom of a typed letter from William Stanhope, Albuquerque, New Mexico, c/o Friedman's publisher, Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, Inc., New York, N. Y., requesting that Friedman sign and inscribe Stanhope's copy of Friedman's book, Free to Choose. Friedman's response in full: "Glad to do so! Send it to our home: 1750 Taylor St., San Francisco, Cal., 94133, granted it arrives before May 13, when we shall be leaving for a second home in Ely, Vt, 05044." Milton Friedman (1912-2006), Nobel Prize winner in Economics (1976), was the leader of the Chicago ("monetarist") School of economic policy, which identified the money supply as the key determinant of business cycles and inflation. Like his scholarly work, his popular works, such as Capitalism and Freedom (1962) and the PBS TV series, Free to Choose (1980), celebrated individual economic freedom. An advisor to Presidents Nixon and Reagan, serving on the latter's Economic Policy Advisory Board, he moved in 1977 from his 30-year professorship at the University of Chicago to become a Senior Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. Creased at upper portion. Fine condition.
