Autographs: IVAN P. PAVLOV - PAMPHLET SIGNED

Pamphlet signed "Vom Verfasser" (German: "By the Author"). Also signed "Pawlow, J.P./Laboratory for/Reflex  Work" and "G.N. Parker" in unknown hand. Stamped "Library of the/Biological Laboratories/Harvard University". 6 ½ x 9 ¾ Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany, 1911. German-language print of a Pavlov article entitled Ein Neues Laboratorium zur Erforschung Der Bedingten Reflexe. Reprint of pages 357 to 371 from Ergebnisse Der Physiologie. Pavlov (1849-1936) was a Russian physiologist who received the 1904 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for his work on digestive secretions. However, he's best known for this work on condition reflex - in particular, training a dog to associate various stimuli, including a ringing bell, with food, causing it to salivate. This work was done during his long investigation into the digestive system secretions from 1890 to 1900, and his work on conditioned reflex would occupy him until shortly before his death, in 1930. Unlike other pre-revolutionary scientists, the communists largely left him alone after they ascended to power in 1918, even though he constantly denounced them. Lightly toned. Stamp touches signature on left. Pamphlet has been folded in half and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition. Previously authenticated by PSA/DNA.
