PEGGY (MRS. BARRY) GOLDWATER - TYPED LETTER SIGNED 12/30/1965 - DOCUMENT 253050

 
PEGGY GOLDWATER
Peggy Goldwater, Barry Goldwater's first wife, signed this typed letter on her personalized letterhead in 1965 to thank the recipient for her "thoughtfulness during my recent illness". Accompanied by original mailing envelope.
Typed letter signed "Peggy Goldwater" as "(Mrs.) Barry Goldwater". 1 page, 5¾x7¾, on Goldwater's personalized stationery. Dec. 30, 1965. Addressed to Miss Marion E. Farrand, San Francisco, California. In full: "Dear Miss Farrand: Your thoughtfulness during my recent illness from which, by the way, I am recovering very satisfac-torily, is appreciated more than I can tell you. Barry and the entire family join me in extending you best wishes for the New Year. Sincerely,". Lightly creased. Folded in half and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition. Accompanied by: Original mailing envelope from Goldwater's personalized stationery. 6x4. Postmarked Phoenix, Arizona, Dec. 31, 1965. Addressed to Miss Marion E. Farrand, San Francisco, California. One 5ยข blue-and-white George Washington stamp affixed. Lightly creased. Envelope is neatly opened with paper loss on verso and flap (not visible head-on. Normal postal stamps. Otherwise in fine condition. Peggy Goldwater (1905-1985), born Margaret Johnson, was the first wife (1934-1985) of Barry Goldwater, U. S. Senator from Arizona and 1964 Republican presidential candidate. She was also founder of Planned Parenthood of Central and Northern Arizona.
