The British ocean rower who in 1983 became the first person ever to row solo across the Pacific signs this 3½x2 card, in black felt tip

Inscribed Business CardSigned: "Bill sorry for the/delay - Regards Pete" in black felt tip, 3½x2. His business card for "Peter Bird, Trans-Pacific Solo Row", Mill Valley, California. In 1983, Peter Bird (1947-1996) became the first to row solo across the Pacific Ocean. On May 31, 1996, Bird began his fifth attempt to be the first to row from Russia to the United States. On June 2, 1996, he was missing and presumed dead after his 29-foot craft capsized approximately 1,300 miles east of Japan. He had expected his 4,450-mile voyage to take 200-plus days. Slightly soiled at upper margin. Mounting remnants on verso (no show through). Otherwise, fine condition.
