PRIME MINISTER WINSTON S. CHURCHILL (GREAT BRITAIN) - SIGNATURE(S) CO-SIGNED BY: W. H. LAMBTON, WILLIAM E. PEASE - HFSID 159385

WINSTON CHURCHILL and OTHERS
His signature on a page from a guest book
Signatures: "Winston S. Churchill", "W. H. Lambton", "William E. Pease", "Pat. W. Nicholls", "Harold Pearson", "J B Dale", "Herbert Wilsen", "Aubry Hastings", "W Roy Lancecourt", "Katherine Leaman" and three unidentified signers, 1 page, 9¼x11½. Page, likely from a guest book, is dated January 5 (no year). Churchill, whose name is fourth on the list of signers, signed on April 19th, putting ditto marks under the date after Pearson's signature. W. H. LAMBTON and WILLIAM E. PEASE were British coal company executives. CHURCHILL became a Member of Parliament in 1901. He successively served as Undersecretary for Colonies (1905-1908), President of the Board of Trade (1908-1910), Home Secretary (1910-1911) and First Lord of Admiralty (1911-1915). Churchill was a Colonel in France in WWI (1916), then Minister of Munitions (1917), Secretary for War and Air (1919-1921), for Colonies and Air (1921) and for Colonies (1921-1922) and was Chancellor of the Exchequer (1924-1929). His inspiring leadership during WWII, especially as Prime Minister (1940-1945, 1951-1955), sustained morale in Britain and helped stimulate resistance in Western Europe. He was knighted in 1953, the year he published his six-volume The Second World War and won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Lightly creased. Shaded at edges. Irregular left edge from removal from bound book. Overall, in fine condition.
