RAMSEY CLARK - TYPED LETTER SIGNED 11/19/1971 - DOCUMENT 131811

RAMSEY CLARK
The one-time attorney general types his letter, thanking its recipient for the invite
Typed Letter Signed: “Ramsey Clark” in black ink. 1p, 7¼x10½. November 19, 1971. Letter written on Clark's personal stationery. Addressed to “Mr. Douglas G. Voegler/ Schuyler, Nebraska”. Written to "Dear Mr. VoeglerIn full:Thanks for your invitation to speak at the University of Nebraska conference on 'Justice in America' scheduled for the last weeks of February and the first weeks of March, 1972. I appreciate it and would like to be with you. But right now the prospects of being at trial most of the Spring makes it difficult to schedule dates and therefore I must decline./ Best wishes./ Sincerely”. When Ramsey Clark (b.1927) was appointed Attorney General by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1967, his father, Tom C. Clark, resigned as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court to avoid any possible conflict of interest. Clark was an opponent of the Vietnam War and has always been a proponent of civil rights. He served as Chairperson of the International Action Center, a nationwide anti-war organization. Horizontal mailing folds. Staining from tape remnants runs down center. Lightly toned. Corners and edges gently worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
