Photograph inscribed and signed: "For Jeffrey/With best/wishes,/John C. Harvey/R Adm USN". Color, 8x10. John Collins Harvey, Jr. (b. 1951) became in July 2009 the 40th and current Commander, US Fleet Forces Command. He previously served as Director, Navy Staff (2008-2009) prior to that, he served as the Chief of Naval Personnel and Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Manpower, Personnel, Training & Education) from November 2005 to April 2008. He assumed his current assignment on July 24, 2009. A Naval Academy graduate trained in nuclear propulsion, he holds a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard. Harvey held several commands at sea, including Cruiser-Destroyer Group Eight of the Theodore Roosevelt Strike Group. Shown in this photo as a Vice Admiral, Harvey was made a Vice Admiral in 2005 and a 4-star Admiral in 2009. In December 2011, he became the Navy's Old Salt, the longest-serving Surface Warfare Officer on active duty. Signature in poor contrast but legible. Fine condition.
