ROBLEY D. EVANS
Signature from Evans as a Commander in the United States Navy. Evans served as Commander-in-Chief of the Asiatic Fleet and North Atlantic Fleet
Signature: "R.D. Evans/Commander USN/Naval Secy L.H.B.D.", 7x3½. Rear Admiral Robley D. Evans (1846-1912) commanded the Asiatic Fleet in 1902-1904 and, beginning in March 1905, the Atlantic Fleet. In late 1907 and early 1908, he led a large force of battleships around South America to California on the first leg of the Great White Fleet's historic cruise around the World, but ill health forced him to relinquish his post in May 1908. Left edge creased and frayed. Irregular edges. Lightly toned, esp. toned on outer edges. Faint blots on signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
