RICHARD ASBURY. First Day Cover signed: "Richard Asbury", 6½x3¾. FDC honoring "To Cast a Free Ballot" in the "A Root of Democracy" series, two 3-cent "To Cast a Free Ballot", 1-cent "The Ability to Write", 2-cent "Freedom to Speak Out" and 4-cent "A Public That Reads" stamps affixed, postmarked Saint Louis, MO, December 8, 1977, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. U.S. Army Air Force ace Richard Woodward Asbury had five "kills" while serving with the 363FG and 354FG during WWII. Lightly rippled. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
