ROBERT WEAVER
Robert Weaver signs a card.
Signature: "Robert C. Weaver/U.S. Secretary of Housing/and Urban Development", 3½x2¼ card. Weaver, a noted economist, was appointed the first Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) by President Lyndon Johnson, becoming the first Black American Cabinet member. During his tenure (1966-1968), Weaver increased the availability of affordable housing and launched a revitalization of America's urban centers. In July 2000, the HUD headquarters was renamed the Robert C. Weaver Federal Building. Weaver had died on July 17, 1997. Fine condition.
