December 4. On letterhead of Archdiocese of San Antonio, Chancery Office to
Mr. Danny Franklin, Sunnyslope, Arizona. In full: "His Excellency,
Archbishop Lucey, has asked me to acknowledge receipt of your kind letter of
November 27, 1968 in regard to the present controversy in this Archdiocese.
The Archbishop appreciates your words of praise and thanks you for your
prayers. I am enclosing an autographed photograph of Archbishop Lucey and I
hope that it will be included amony (sic, among) your souvenirs.
Sincerely yours in Christ". Lightly creased with folds, vertical fold at the
"d" of Edmond. Fine condition. With original typed, metered mailing
envelope. Robert Emmet Lucey (1891-1977), who had been ordained a Priest
in 1916, was Archbishop of San Antonio from 1941-1969. He had previously
served as Bishop of Amarillo, Texas from 1934. After his retirement in
1969, Lucey was named Titular Archbishop of Tauromenium. Three
