ROBERT F. FURCHGOTT. Photograph signed: "Robert F. Furchgott". Color, 8x10. Photo image of Nobel's testament endowing the Nobel Prizes. Front and verso images of a Nobel Prize medal at upper and lower margins. Robert F. Furchgott (born in 1916) of the SUNY Health Center, Brooklyn was co-recipient with Louis Ignarro and Ferid Murad of the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1998 for "discoveries concerning nitric oxide as a signaling molecule in the cardiovascular system." Nitric oxide, they discovered, tells blood vessels to relax and widen, an effect which can help control blood pressure and combat male impotence. Their discoveries led to the development of Viagra. Signature slightly shaky. Slightly creased at upper portion, minor smudges (not evident head on) at lower portion. Fine condition.
