ROBERT FINCH. Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Danny/Franklin/With best/wishes/Bob Finch". B/w, 8x10. Robert Hutchison Finch (1925-1995), a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, served as Republican Lieutenant Governor of California (1967-1969) under Ronald Reagan before resigning to become an Aide to President Richard Nixon, a close friend. In 1968, Finch had been Nixon's first choice for Vice President, but he declined and Nixon chose Spiro Agnew. Finch, who became Nixon's Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare in 1969, retired from politics in 1970. He then focused on writing and became a teacher at the University of Southern California. Slightly creased at blank margins and corners, lightly soiled at right margin. Minor surface crease at lower left. Overall, fine condition.
