1980 first day cover honoring Sequoyah, inventor of the Cherokee alphabet, signed by Coase in blue ink
First day cover signed "Ronald Coase" in blue ink. 6¼x3½. First Day Cover honoring Cherokee Indian chief Sequoyah, postmarked Tahlequah, Oklahoma, December 27, 1980, 19-cent stamp affixed, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. English-born Ronald Coase (1910-2013), who moved to the U.S. in 1951, is best known for two papers. The first, The Nature of the Firm, was published in 1937 while the second, The Problem of Social Cost, was not published until 1960. In these papers, Coase introduced the concept of transaction costs into economics and founded the modern theory of the firm, the law and economics movement and the new institutional economics. He received the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1991 for his work. Lightly toned and soiled, otherwise in fine condition.
