ROSS LEE FINNEY
Pulitzer Prize winning composer, Ross Lee Finney signs an autograph musical quotation on a photograph.
Autograph Musical Quotation signed on a photograph: "Ross Lee Finney" at lower margin of photograph. B/w, 8x10 overall, image 7¼x8½ (one surface). Finney, who is depicted writing music, has written three bars of music, penning "etc." at the end. Finney (1907-1997), an American composer and music teacher, received the 1927 Pulitzer Prize for his "First String Quartet". Other awards followed, including two Guggenheim fellowships, the Boston Symphony Award, the Brandeis Medal and election to both the National Institute of Arts and Letters and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Finney's works include eight string quartets, four symphonies, numerous chamber works and song cycles, two stage works and an unfinished opera, A Computer Marriage. A list of his works is printed on verso. Lightly creased at upper blank margin. Paper clip rust stains at upper left margin on verso (no show through). Blank margins on verso are slightly soiled. Fine condition.
