WILLIAM GOLDING. First Day Cover signed: "William Golding", 6½x3¾. FDC honoring U.S. Nobel Prize in Literature winner John Steinbeck, 15-cent Steinbeck stamp affixed, postmarked Salinas, CA, February 27, 1979, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Sir William Golding (1911-1993), the winner of the 1983 Nobel Prize in Literature for his body of work, is best known for his 1954 novel, Lord of the Flies. Last name touches postmark. Pencil notes (unknown hand) on verso (no show through). Fine condition.
