Signature: "Every good wish/Sincerely/June Collyer" and "&/Stuart Erwin" in pencil, 5¼x4½ album leaf. Stuart "Stu" Erwin (1903-1967) is an actor best known for Trouble With Father, later called The Stu Erwin Show (1950-1955). The sitcom co-starred Erwin's wife, actress June Collyer, to whom he was married from July 22, 1931 until his death on December 21, 1967. The couple acted together for 20 years before their television outing. Erwin, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Pigskin Parade (1936), made his film debut in 1928 in Mother Knows Best. His other film credits include The Band Plays On (1934), I'll Take Romance (1937), Our Town (1940), and Son of Flubber (1963). Erwin, who debuted on Broadway in 1942, was also seen frequently on the small screen. In addition to another series, The Greatest Show on Earth (1963-1964), he made several television movies and appeared as a guest star on shows like Crossroads (1957) to Gentle Ben (1967). June Collyer (1906-1968), born Dorothea Heermance in New York City, made her film debut in 1927. She had been retired for 15 years when she co-starred on her husband's television show, and she would make only one additional appearance on the small screen (Playhouse 90, 1958). Collyer was the sister of game show host Bud Collyer. Lightly creased. Slightly shaded at blank right margin and left blank area. Irregularly torn at blank left margin from removal from bound book. Otherwise, fine condition.
