THE EARL WARREN COURT (1962-1965)
16¾x12 black and white photograph by Ackad of Washington, D.C. of the 1962-1965 Earl Warren Supreme Court, signed by all 9 members
Photograph signed: "Tom Clark", "Hugo L Black.", "Earl Warren", "W Douglas" "J Marshall Harlan", "Byron White", "Wm Brennan Jr", "Potter Stewart" and "Arthur J Goldberg" in various inks, b/w, 16¾x12 overall, 12¾x8¼ image, one surface, printed on cardstock. Photo by Ackad of Washington, D.C. EARL WARREN served as chief justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1953 to 1969. The Warren Court was primarily known for its liberal rulings. On June 13, 1966, the Court pictured here ruled in the case of "Miranda v. Arizona". By a 5-4 vote, the Court ruled that a person accused of a crime must be advised of his or her rights before interrogation, and the word "mirandized" became part of the English language as a result. The nine justices who signed this photograph served together from 1962 to 1965. Lightly toned, creased, and bowed. Pencil notations in an unknown hand on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
