VALERIE LUNDEEN
On behalf of herself and her new husband, actor Ron Ely, she signs an autograph letter to comedienne Phyllis Diller, saying that Ron is memorizing Diller's Marriage Manual.
Autograph Letter signed: "Valerie & Ron" (by Valerie), 1 page, 7¼x10½. No place, but accompanying envelope is postmarked Laguna Del Rey, California, February 13, 1984.On Ron Ely's personal stationery to comedienne Phyllis Diller. In full: "Thank you so much for "Phyllis Diller's Marriage Manual.' It has explained so many things that I've been wondering about. Although I've enjoyed it, I'm beginning to suspect that Ron is memorizing it. Hope we see you soon! Love". VALERIE LUNDEEN, Miss Florida USA (1981) and a Miss World finalist, married actor Ron Ely on March 10, 1984, three days before she wrote this letter. No doubt the received Phyllis Diller's Marriage Manual as a wedding gift from the famed comedienne and musician. RON ELY became the 15th screen Tarzan when his short-lived TV series aired in 1966. (Ely insisted on doing his own stunts, sustaining a lion bite and several other injuries.) Ely has appeared in a few films and many TV episodes, including multiple appearances on Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Superboy and Renegade. Ely replaced Bert Parks as the host of the Miss America Pageant (1978-1981), the same period when Valerie Lundeen was competing in the rival pageant. Normal mailing folds. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
