VISCOUNT ALBERT ALEXANDER OF HILLSBOROUGH. Signature: "Alexander of Hillsborough", 5x3 card with typed caption. Albert Victor Alexander (1885-1965), later honored with the title Viscount of Hillsborough, was elected to the British Parliament for the Labour Party in 1922. He was a surprise appointment as First Lord of the Admiralty (1929-1931), but performed ably in the job, so that he returned to the office in 1940, replacing newly designated Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and holding the post through the rest of World War II. He was named Minister of Defense (1947) under Prime Minister Atlee. Slightly creased. Stray ink mark in upper right. Otherwise, fine condition.
