The President of the United Automobile Workers of America signs a 4¼x1¾ card.
Signature: "Walter P. Reuther", 4¼x1¾ card. Affixed to an 8½x11 page with a magazine image of Reuther affixed above and a paragraph about him typed at top. Walter P. Reuther (1907-1970) was Vice President (1941-1946) and President (1946-1952) of the United Automobile Workers of America. In 1952, he became President of the CIO, becoming President of the UAW again in 1969, after the union withdrew from the AFL-CIO. He was known for his innovations in worker benefits. Reuther was killed in an airplane crash in 1970. From the personal collection of Ralph Errington Ward (1926-2009). Ward, a fighter pilot and squadron commander in the China-Burma-India Theater of World War II, went on to become President and CEO of Cheseborough-Ponds, Inc., transforming the cosmetics firm into a major home product conglomerate. Adhesive on verso (affixing card to the page). Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
