Short letter thanking an admirer for his congratulations on his Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences
Typed letter signed: "Wassily Leontief", in black ink, 8½x11. November 12, 1973. Cambridge, Massachusetts. In full: "Dear Mr. Cleary: I have received your congratulatory letter, and would like to thank you for your good wishes. Sincerely". Russian-born and educated economist Wassily Leontief (1906-1990) immigrated to the U.S. in 1929. He joined the faculty of Harvard University two years later. Leontief's Nobel Prize in economics (1973) cited him for his creation of the input-output technique. By this method, the variations in the flow of goods from one industry to another can be graphically demonstrated. Economists use his method to analyze, plan, and predict economic changes. Normal mailing folds. Light surface creases. Lightly toned, esp. on outer margins. Corners slightly worn. Staple holes in top left corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
