Small sepia publicity photograph of William M. Jardine wearing a suit and tie.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Mr V.Y. Russell/With Regards/W M Jardine". Sepia, 6¾x11¾ overall, image 4¾x6¾ (two surfaces), matted to 7¼x13 with folded cover. William Marion Jardine (1879-1955), formerly President of Kansas State University (1918-1925), served as Secretary of Agriculture under President Calvin Coolidge (1925-1929) and was U.S. Minister to Egypt in 1930. Jardine played an integral part in the 1926 formation of the Board of Trade Clearing Corporation (BOTCC) after the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) adopted his suggestions for regular reporting of large trader positions, a business conduct committee and the formation of a centralized clearing house. Photograph silvered at background, touching lower jaw of image. Mount is lightly soiled. Horizontal fold touches the "h" of "With" and the "R" and "ds" in "Regards". Pencil notations on front cover. Overall, fine condition. Matted, not in Gallery of History style. Not reviewed by us for conservation integrity. "As is" matting purchase.
