Ten members of the 1991 Chicago Bears squad signed this football used in the rivalry game
Football Signed: "K Butler", "Steve/ McMichael", "James Thornton/ 80", "Perry/ The Fridge", "Tom Thayer 57" (extremely faint),and five others. Official NFL Wilson football. The 1991 Black and Blue Shootout was a rivalry game played by the Chicago Bears and the New York Giants. The Bears came out on top 20-17 to begin their season 3-0. The Bears led 13-0 at the end of the first half, with their only first touchdown of the day coming on a 75-yard pass to Wendell Davis from Jim Harbaugh. Kevin Butler (b. 1962), the Bears kicker, made two extra points and two field goals. Steve McMichael (1957-2025) started in this game at left defensive tackle for the Bears. He notched 94 tackles and 9 sacks in the 1991 season. James Thornton (b. 1965) was a tight end for the Chicago Bears. In this game, he caught two passes for 52 yards. William "The Refrigerator" Perry (b. 1962) spent most of his career with the Chicago Bears (1985-1993). In 1991, he earned 5.5 sacks. Tom Thayer (b. 1961) played in the NFL from 1985 to 1992 at right guard. Five unidentified signatures. Signatures have poor legibility. Football is slightly deflated.
