A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM
Playbill signed by ten cast members and two guests at the first Broadway revival of the popular musical comedy
Show Bill signed: "Kerry McGrath", "Trudy Carson", "Love & Peace/John Hansen", "Lauren", "Keita", "Pamela Hall", "Lisabeth/Pritchett", "Carl/Lindstrom", "Jack Collins", "Carl/Ballantine", "Larry Blyden" and "Chad/Block". A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, was a smash Broadway hit in 1964, followed by a movie version and numberless regional theater productions. In 1972, the first Broadway revival of the play ran for 156 performances at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, as shown here. Phil Silvers replaced Zero Mostel in the starring role of Pseudolus. This program has been signed by ten of the members of the 1972 cast: JOHN HANSEN, in the role of Hero, a love struck young Roman. KEITA KEITA and LAUREN LUCAS played courtesans Vibrata and Tintinabula. PAMELA HALL played Philia, LIZABETH PRITCHETT played Domina, CARL LINDSTROM played Miles Gloriosus, JACK COLLINS played Senex on the opening night, but was soon replaced in the role by Lew Parker, CARL BALLANTINE played Lycus, LARRY BLYDEN played Hysterium and CHAD BLOCK played Protean. Two other signers here were not in the cast of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, but were Broadway actresses: TRUDY CARSON was appearing in Follies at the Winter Garden Theater. KERRY McGRATH would soon appear in Lorelei at the Palace Theatre. Fine condition.
