A HISTORY OF THE AMERICAN FILM PLAY CAST
Swoosie Kurts, April Shawhan, Christopher Durang and Judith Gordon sign on a Playbill for a production of A History of the American Film
Show bill signed: "Judith Gordon", "Chris Durang", "Swoosie Kurtz", "April Shawan", in blue ink, 66 pages, 5½x9. SWOOSIE KURTZ, named Swoosie after her father's WWII aircraft, has won two Tony Awards (Fifth of July, 1981; House of Blue Leaves, 1986) and been nominated for two more (Tartuffe, 1978; Frozen, 2004). On television, she won an Emmy as Outstanding Guest Actress in 1990 (for Carol & Company) and gained nominations for five more. Kurtz co-starred in the series, Sisters, from 1991-1996. Kurtz, who began appearing in films in the 1970s, was seen in Cruel Intentions in 1999 and in the TV miniseries, Category 7: The End of the World, in 2005. Currently a teacher at UCLA, APRIL SHAWHAN (b. 1940) is familiar with the theatre world, appearing in a string of Broadway productions between 1965 and 1988. Her first major role was as Bernstein in the Broadway play A Race of Hairy Men! (1965). Her next play was 3 Bags Full (1966), which would earn her a Theatre World Award. Other plays include Cop Out (1969), Over Here! (1974), and A Streetcar Named Desire (1988). She has only appeared in one film, The Lay of the Land (1997). CHRISTOPHER DURANG (b. 1949) is an award winning playwright, known for his outrageous comedies that were popular during the 1980's. Though he has written a large number of plays that have appeared off Broadway, he is more known for the Broadway adaptations of his works, including his plays A History of the American Film (1978), Sex and Longing (1996), and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (2013). He has been nominated for several awards, with his latest play, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, winning a Tony for Best Play and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play. Also signed by JUDITH GORDON as co-producer. Lightly toned. Top left corner creased. Corners slightly worn and creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
