The Latin singer is shown from the waist up wearing an extravagant gown in this black and white photograph.
Inscribed Photograph signed: "To Sue/Best wishes/Abbe Lane", 8x10¼. Abbe Lane, born Abigail Lassman in Brooklyn in 1932, was best known as a sexy singer of Latin music, a style she perfected while married (1952-1964) to Xavier Cugat, the Cuban "rumba king". The fiery redhead, who made occasional film and frequent TV guest appearances, once quipped: "Jayne Mansfield may turn the boys into men, but I take it from there." She was a popular guest on TV variety shows of the 1950s and 1960s; NBC insisted she change out of a revealing dress before an appearance on The Jackie Gleason Show. Slightly worn at corners. Otherwise, fine condition.
