ABBOTT & COSTELLO: BUD ABBOTT
Bud Abbott signs a racing form from the Garden State Park, New Jersey.
Racing Form signed: "Bud Abbott" in pencil, 4x9 affixed to slightly larger sheet. Garden State Park, New Jersey. Betting form listing the seven horses running in the first race. In 1931, while cashiering at a Brooklyn theater, Abbott substituted for comic Lou Costello's ill straight man. The two formed their famous comedy team and, through the 1930s, they worked burlesque, minstrel shows, vaudeville and movie houses. In 1938, they got national exposure through Kate Smith's radio show, and they signed with Universal the next year for their film debut. By 1942, they topped a poll of Hollywood stars. Abbott and Costello had their own radio show (1941-1949) and made 52 half-hour episodes of The Abbott and Costello Show for television before splitting up in 1957. Lightly creased. Folds, horizontal folds touch the "B" in Bud and between the "bb" in Abbott. Irregular left edge. Overall, fine condition.
