LOU COSTELLO and KEN RICHMOND Album leaf signed on one side by the comic actor and by the wrestler on the other Signatures: "Lou Costello", 4¾x4 album leaf. Co-signed on verso: "Ken Richmond". With partner Bud Abbott, LOU COSTELLO (1906-1959) formed one of the greatest comedy teams in the history of show business. They mastered the straight man/clown relationship, creating a magical chemistry that took them from vaudeville and burlesque to radio, Broadway, film and television. The Abbott & Costello Show aired on radio on ABC from 1941-1946 and on NBC from 1946-1949. Abbott and Costello were also guest hosts of NBC's hour-long live variety show, The Colgate Comedy Hour, seven times between 1951-1954. Abbott and Costello split up in 1957 after troubles with the Internal Revenue Service left both men broke. Their "Who's on First?" routine is enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. English wrestler KEN RICHMOND (1926-2006) won a bronze medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games, and a gold in heavyweight wrestling at the 1954 Empire and Commonwealth Games. Also in 1954, he was paid a one-time fee of $100 to beat the gong at the beginning of J. Arthur Rank Studio films. He appeared in all the studio's films until its 1980 closure, but was never paid again for the performance. A Jehovah's Witness, he was jailed as a conscientious objector during World War II. Maintaining a stark contrast between his professional and personal life, Richmond was said to have used force only once outside the ring (to restrain a burglar until the police arrived). He appeared in the 1950 film Night and the City as a wrestler. Jagged at right edge from removal from bound book. Fine condition.
