February 24. On letterhead of the Law Offices of Irell & Manella to Mr.

Regarding Lou Costello. In full: "Pursuant to our conversation of
yesterday, I enclose herein check No. 198, dated February 24, 1953, in the
amount of $6,056.00. This check is being sent in payment of the $6000.00
borrowed by Mr. Costello in December of 1952, plus $56.00 of interest. Would
you please return the cancelled note to the undersigned at the address set forth

two films, Abbott and Costello Go to Mars and Abbott and Costello Meet
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. With partner BUD ABBOTT, LOU
COSTELLO (1906-1959) formed one of the greatest comedy teams in the
history of show business. They mastered the straight man/clown relationship,
creating a magical chemistry that took them from vaudeville and burlesque to
radio, Broadway, film and television. The Abbott & Costello
Show aired on radio on ABC from 1941-1946 and on NBC from 1946-1949.
Abbott and Costello were also guest hosts of NBC's hour-long live variety
show, The Colgate Comedy Hour, seven times between 1951-1954.
Their "Who's on First?" routine is enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of
Fame. Abbott and Costello split up in 1957 after troubles
with the Internal Revenue Service left both men broke. On thin paper. Lightly creased with folds, light horizontal fold nicks
the top loop of the "L" in Lou. Light stains at upper right portion, stray ink
mark beneath typed text. Chipped at upper right edge, nicked at lower right
blank edge. Staple holes at blank left margin, two file holes at upper blank
margin. Overall, fine condition.
