American playwright Burrows (1910-1985) wrote and often directed classic American musical comedies. He won a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Awards for writing and directing in 1962 for How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying (1961-1965); the play also earned a Tony for Best Musical. His first Broadway musical Guys and Dolls (1950-1953) won a Tony Award for Best Musical and, as of this biography, has been revived five times on the Great White Way. Lightly toned.
