Lyman". B/w, 8x10. Captioned in lower margin. Drummer turned bandleader Abe
Lyman (1897-1957) had a popular dance band from the early 1920s to the late
1940s. His 1922 opening at the Cocoanut Grove, it packed in 1500 guests with
a waiting line of 500 outside. Lyman's band had a successful European tour
(1929), playing locations like London's Palladium and Paris' Moulin Rouge. Lyman
and his orchestra were featured in many early talking pictures, and
recorded Merrie Melodies soundtracks. Lightly toned at edges. Corners creased.
