Typed address to Mrs. Sara Bateman, Hagerstown, Maryland. Absalom Willis Robertson (1887-1971), a veteran of World War I, represented Virginia in the US House (1932-1946) and Senate (1946-1966). He was co-sponsor of the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act of 1937, establishing and funding national wildlife areas. A conservative Democrat, Robertson was a signer of the Southern Manifesto opposing the school desegregation decision of Brown v. Board of Education. President Johnson personally recruited another Democrat to run against (and defeat) Robertson in the Democratic primary in 1966. A. Willis Robertson is the father of televangelist and Presidential candidate Pat Robertson. Lightly worn and toned at edges. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
