Clarence "Ace" Parker (1912-2013) was an All-American tailback
at Duke (1936) before becoming a two-sport professional with the
Philadelphia A's (baseball) and Brooklyn Dodgers (football)! His baseball play
was undistinguished, but he went on to a Hall of Fame (1972) career in the
NFL. Converted to quarterback, he was the League's MVP in 1940, but
was mainly a reserve player when he returned from military service. He was later
head baseball and assistant football coach at Duke, and managed the Durham
Bulls. As of early 2011, he is the oldest surviving member of the Pro
Football Hall of Fame and the second oldest surviving Major League Baseball
veteran. Lightly toned. Corners rounded. Pencil note (unknown hand) on
verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
