Photograph signed: "Clarence 'Ace' Parker". B/w, 8x10. Hall of
Fame photo, caption at lower margin. Clarence "Ace" Parker (1912-2013)
was an All-American tailback at Duke (1936) before becoming a two-sport
professional with the Philadelphia A's (baseball) and Brooklyn Dodgers
(football)! His baseball play was undistinguished, but he went on to a Hall
of Fame (1972) career in the NFL. Converted to quarterback, he was the
League's MVP in 1940, but was mainly a reserve player when he returned
from military service. He was later head baseball and assistant football coach
at Duke, and managed the Durham Bulls. As of early 2011, he is the oldest
surviving member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the second oldest
surviving Major League Baseball veteran. Fine condition.
