Photograph inscribed and signed: "to/Ron/A West". B/w, 8x10. Depicted in his role as Batman with Burt Ward, who played his sidekick, Robin in the hit TV series. Batmanaired January 12, 1966-March 14, 1968. The character, created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, first appeared in "Detective Comics" in 1939; Batman was featured in his own comic book series in the spring of 1940. Film versions were made in 1943 and 1949 before West brought the "Caped Crusader" to life on television. Adam West (1928-2017), who began acting in 1959, is most famous for his role as the titular superhero in the original Batman (1966-1968). Although the show ran for only 3 seasons, its unique style and comedic tone have made it a fan favorite in a long-running franchise. West attempted to distance himself from the role after the series was cancelled in 1968, but he eventually embraced his typecast role and has voiced the main character and many others in a ton of animated shows and films, including The New Adventures of Batman (1977) and The Batman (2004-2006). He enjoyed a resurgence in popularity when he was cast as the Mayor of Quahog in the adult animated series Family Guy. Slightly creased at blank margins and corners, light black mark at upper left corner. Minor surface creases (not evident head on). Otherwise, fine condition.
