ADAM WEST
The original television Batman and Robin are shown in this signed color photograph!
Photograph inscribed and signed: "to/William/Adam/West". Color, 8x10. Depicts West in his role as Batman and Burt Ward, who did not sign, as Robin. The campy TV series, Batman, aired January 12, 1966 through March 14, 1968. Batman, created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, first appeared in "Detective Comics" in 1939; Batman was featured in his own comic book series in the spring of 1940. Film versions were made in 1943 and 1949 before West and Ward brought the popular duo to life on television. Adam West (1928-2017) is most famous for his role as the titular superhero in the original Batman (1966-1968). Although the show ran for only 3 seasons, its unique style and comedic tone have made it a fan favorite in a long-running franchise. West attempted to distance himself from the role after the series was cancelled in 1968, but he eventually embraced his typecast role and has voiced the main character and many others in a ton of animated shows and films, including The New Adventures of Batman (1977) and The Batman (2004-2006). He enjoyed a resurgence in popularity when he was cast as the Mayor of Quahog in the adult animated series Family Guy. Water stain (barely visible head on) at upper margin, touching the "m" of William, the "am" of Adam and the "st" in West. Otherwise, fine condition.
