U.S President Woodrow Wilson's personal physician signs a 4½x2 piece
of paper while he was chairman of the American Red Cross.
Autograph Sentiment signed: "Yours Sincerely,/Cary T.
Grayson/1936", 4½x2 piece of paper, affixed to a 4½x2 piece of black
cardstock (2 surfaces). Cary T. Grayson (1878-1938) was born in Culpeper
County, Virginia. A graduate of the College of William and Mary, he received
a M.D. from the University of the South and Medical College of Virginia. Grayson
was assigned to the U.S. Navy's Bureau of Medicine and Surgery and became the
naval surgeon for the Presidential yacht, the Mayflower, serving
during Theodore Roosevelt and William H. Taft's administrations. He later
served as the White House physician for President Woodrow Wilson,
remaining with the President after leaving office to care to his health. On
August 29, 1916, he was commissioned as a Rear Admiral and from 1935
until 1938 he was chairman of the American Red Cross. The Gleaves-class
destroyer, the USS Grayson, was named in his honor. Adhesive residue on
