Inscribed Photograph signed: "JEFFREY,/Best Wishes/C Abbot/[Illegible]/7-29-97" in gold felt tip, Color 8x10. Admiral Charles S. Abbot was born on January 19, 1945 in Pensacola, Florida. A naval aviator, he graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1966 and from the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School and naval nuclear power training. During the Gulf War, Abbot commanded the USS Theodore Roosevelt and commanded the Theodore Roosevelt battle group while assigned as Commander. He commanded the United States Sixth Fleet (1996-1998) and was Deputy Commander in Chief for United States European Command (1998-2000), before retiring from the Navy in 2000. Later he became deputy homeland security advisor to President George W. Bush (2001-2003) and president of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. Ink smeared. Otherwise, fine condition.
