MICHAEL POLLOCK6½x8½ black and white photo of the accomplished British Naval officer Photograph signed: "Michael Pollock/ First Sea Lord". B/w, 6½x8½. Sir Michael Patrick Pollock (1916-2006) was First Sea Lord from 1971-1974. He had previously served as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (1964-1966) and second-in-command of the Home Fleet (1966-1967). Pollock was promoted to Vice-Admiral in 1967 and Flag Officer Submarines in 1968, serving as NATO Commander Submarines in the Eastern Atlantic. Pollock, who had graduated from the Royal Naval College in 1933, served on a number of warships during WWII, including the Norfolk, which sank the German raider, Scharnhorst. He took command of the aircraft carrier Ark Royal in 1963. Adequate contrast. Lightly creased at blank margins and corners. Slightly soiled at lower left margin. Minor surface creases and scratches (most not evident head-on). Faint paper clip impression at upper left-hand background. Glue stains and pencil note in an unknown hand on verso (no show-through). Otherwise, fine condition.
