image, one surface.Johnson (1915-2001, born in Barrow upon Soar,
Leicestershire, England) was a Royal Air Force pilot in Britain. Originally
rejected from the Air Force due to a rugby injury, he became the top scoring
British ace of World War II, with 38 confirmed Luftwaffe kills. His first
victory was on June 26, 1941, when he shot down a Messerschmitt Bf 109 over
France. He flew Spitfires in the Battle of Britain, escorted bombers over
Germany, with a total of over 1,000 missions during the war, and
finished his combat service in the Korean War. He was later promoted to Air
Vice Marshall. Lightly toned. Several horizontal creases near center. Light
creases in top corners. Pen skipped in several places in signature. Otherwise,
fine condition.
