Small b/w full-length photo by F. H. Anderson of professional golfer Al Espinosa, signed
with his "Best Wishes". He was a member of the American team at the first three Ryder
Cups. This unique piece is the only signed photo of Espinosa we have ever seen on the
market!
Inscribed photograph signed "Best wishes-/to Mr Jansky/Al. Espinosa". B/w,6x9½ with thin
white border at bottom edge.Photograph by F. H. Anderson, with photo credit stamped on
verso in purple ink. Mexican-American golfer Espinosa (1891-1957) was a member of the
American team at the first three Ryder Cups (1927, 1929 and 1931). Espinosa won nine
PGA Tour events between 1924 and 1935, but never won major tournament. However, he
did force a playoff with Bobby Jones in the 1929 U. S. Open; Jones went on to win the
Grand Slam of his era, the U. S. and British Opens and Amateurs, in 1930. He also came
in second at the 1928 PGA Championship. Lightly toned, cracked, creased and bowed.
Signature has poor adhesion but is legible. Reproduction and negative errors in image. Light
scratches on image (not visible head-on). Mounting residue and light discoloration on verso
(not visible head-on). Otherwise in fine condition.
