Actor Al Nesor wrote this letter in 1984 about his best role.
Autograph letter signed "Al Nesor" in blue ink. 1 page, 5½x7¼. Aug. 14, 1984. In full:"Dear Mr. Axelrod, Since I am not too sure as to your request in referring to my most important role in show business, I am sending a little memorabelia [sic, not included] that I found among my theatrical contents. Most of my background material is in New York with my daughter. If what I am sending you is not appropriate [sic], please return same. I would say the role of 'Evil Eye Fleagle' in 'Lil Abner' was best remembered by many theatre fans, and movie buffs. As 'Benny Southstreet' in 'Guys and Dolls' on Bway [sic] who another favorite role. Hope your display is a success. Best regards,". Nesor had his last movie role in 1984, as a taxi driver in Harry and Son.American actor Nesor (1911-1999) appeared in 12 movies and TV shows between 1959 and 1984 and eight Broadway plays between 1950 and 1970. He was Evil Eye Fleagle, he of the dreaded whammy, in the Broadway (1956-1958) and movie (1959) adaptation of Li'l Abner. He also appeared on Broadway as Benny Southstreet in the original (1950-1953) and revival (1955) of Guys and Dolls and as Martini in the original Broadway production of On Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1963-1964). Mystery Science Theatre 3000 fans may also know Nesor from his performance as the mugging toadie Stobo in the MST3K "essential" Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964). Lightly creased. Pen skipped while writing signature, which is lightly haloed but legible. Otherwise in fine condition.
