Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul/Best Wishes/Alan Baxter". B/w, 8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: January 10, 1938. Alan Baxter(1908-1976) often played sinister roles in a film career of 35 years. He is perhaps best remembered as the Nazi spy at the Hoover Dam in Hitchcock's Saboteur (1942). He played Jesse James in Bad Men of Missouri (1941) and a mobster fixing prize fight sin The Set-Up (1949). Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Lightly toned around edges. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, Fine condition.
