ALAN FORREST
Closely cropped 3½x6½ photo of Forrest in tux, top hat and cane, inscribed and signed
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Calvert/Most Sincerely/Alan Forrest". B/w, 3½x6½ trimmed photograph affixed to 5x8 card, two surfaces. Ink date on mount (unknown hand): 1915. Alan Forrest (1885-1942) was a handsome, athletic leading man of silent films, debuting on screen in 1913. He co-starred with Mary Miles Minter in about 20 films, two of which survive: The Ghost of Rosy Taylor and The Eyes of Julia Neep (both 1919). Married to Lottie Pickford from 1922 to 1928, he co-starred with sister in law Mary Pickford in Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall (1924). Forrest made four talking films before returning to full-time stage acting in 1932. His last starring role was as a British intelligence officer in Egypt in The Desert Bride (1928). Photo trimmed unevenly, removing a portion of the inscription. Card backing ragged on sides. Ink Staple holes at upper left margin. Poor contrast but still readable.
