ALAN GREENSPAN
Signature from the Federal Reserve Board Chairman, dated 1982
Autograph note signed: "Best wishes to Alvin Carl
Kentz/Sincerely/Alan Greenspan", in purple ink, 5½x4½. Hand dated October
27, 1982. As Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, Alan Greenspan (b. 1926)
has been the chief architect of U.S. monetary policy under five Presidents.
Co-founder of a New York economic consulting firm, Townsend and Greenspan, he
chaired the Council of Economic Advisors for President Ford (1974-1977).
First appointed Fed chairman by President Reagan, he was reappointed
by both Presidents Bush and by Clinton in between, serving until
2006. With benefit of hindsight, many have blamed his loose credit policies
for the subprime mortgage crisis. (Time would later place him #3 on the
list of people to blame.) Corners slightly worn. Lightly toned. Fine
condition.
