ALAN LADD and JOAN CAULFIELD
Alan Ladd and Joan Caulfield sign a black and white publicity photograph of themselves on the deck of the
Cunard White Star R.M.S. Mauretania with six other people.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Mary/Alan Ladd" and "Joan/Caulfield". B/w, 9½x7½. Signed by two of seven (George Brent, Patricia Neal, Virginia Mayo, Michael O'Shea and Sue Carol Ladd) pictured on the deck of the Cunard White Star R.M.S. Mauretania. London News Agency photograph. With his icy good looks and a resonant voice, LADD (1913-1964) starred in entertaining adventures featuring him bare-chested and in fistfights. In 1942, he landed a major role in This Gun for Hire opposite Veronica Lake. Ladd quickly became a major star, and was teamed with Lake in other films -- all hits. On the Top Ten box-office attractions list in 1947, 1953 and 1954, Ladd continued to star in films throughout the '50s. CAULFIELD (1922-1991) was a popular starlet who played featured roles in films from Miss Susie Slagle's (1945) to Buckskin (1968) and in mature supporting roles thereafter. She had her own TV sitcom, Sally, for one season (1957-1958). Slightly creased and soiled. Spots in lower portion are not visible head on. Ink note on verso (no show through).
