Inscribed photograph signed: "Dear Harry/The hand on/the hip
is/misleading/Alan", in green ink, B/w 10¼x8. British actor Alan Mowbray
(1896-1969) appeared on London and Broadway stages and in nearly 200 films from
1930 to the mid-1950s. He was usually cast in supporting roles as a pompous
or eccentric Englishman. However, he played George Washington twice (in
Alexander Hamilton, 1931; and Where Do We Go From Here?, 1945).
Pin holes in corners. Corners worn and creased. Toned. Slightly soiled. Ink
stamps on verso. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso. Surface creases and
striations. Otherwise, fine condition.
