Typed Letter signed: "Albert Bassermann", 1 page, 7x11.
Beverly Hills, California, 1941 October 24. Written to "Dear Mr.
Berliner:", in full: "Thank you for your kind letter. I was so
busy the last two months, that I couldn't answer but today. To get Mr. Veidt's
autograph for you is not possible for me. You have to write to Mr. Veidt
your-self. As I don't find him in the Telephonebook you'll address Mr. Conrad
Veidt, c/o M-G-M Motion Pictures Culver City, California. With kind regards to
you and your family Sincerely" German actor Albert Bassermann (1867-1952)
was born in Mannheim, Germany. A stage actor performing in Switzerland and
Germany to begin his acting career, Bassermann started appearing in films in
1913. He left Germany in 1933, moved to the United States, and began appearing
in American films. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a
Supporting Role for his performance in Foreign Correspondent (1941).
Other notable film credits include Madame Curie (1943), Since You Went
Away (1944) and The Red Shoes (1948). Normal mailing folds. Lightly
