Signatures: "A. C. Thompson/Portsmouth/Ohio", 7¼x3 album leaf. Also signed on verso: "R. T. Davis/Fall River/Mass.". Albert C. Thompson (1842-1910) fought for the Union in the Civil War, rising to the rank of captain before being injured at the Second Battle of Bull Run (1862). Thompson, an Ohio Republican, served three terms in the US Congress (1885-1891). After chairing a commission appointed by President McKinley to revise the US criminal and penal code (1897), he served as a federal appeals court judge for the Southern District of Ohio (1898-1910). Irish-born Robert Thompson "R. T." Davis (1823-1906), a medical doctor, was a delegate to the 1860 Republican National Convention. He served as Mayor of Fall River, Massachusetts (1873-1874) and in the US Congress (1883-1889). Thompson and Davis served together in the 49th and 50th Congress (1885-1889). Toned.
